Intensium® Max for efficient trackside energy storage
Intensium® Max for efficient trackside energy storage
Energy efficient urban rail transport plays a key role in contributing to sustainable development. Given the frequent stops of urban rail, capturing and storing braking energy offers a valuable way to reduce energy consumption.
Saft’s Intensium® Max is a megawatt-scale trackside Li-ion battery that captures and stores regenerative braking energy so that railway operators can reuse the energy for traction, generate income by returning it to the grid, or to ensure high-quality backup power.
Initially developed for grid installations, Intensium® Max brings rail energy-efficiency and smart-grid technologies to an aging transport infrastructure and has the potential to transform the relationship between the transport and energy industries.
